National Football Museum

Little dudes dad was itching to go ever since he heard it was opening in Manchester. I wanted to go to, as I love the Urbis building. http://www.nationalfootballmuseum.com/

Food… There wasn’t alot of choice, just sandwiches really. I had a cheese and ham, and the ham was pretty nice. I gave a little to Miles, but I was please he had a packed lunch with him.

Highchairs… Now I don’t expect the red carpet rolled out for me wherever we go, but I was a little disappointed. There were no highchairs out, and when I asked for one: “Oo I think we might have ONE, I’ll go and find it”. So the solitary highchair was brought out. It was pretty filthy, but OK after a wetwipe wipe. It was a wooden one, with a strap between the legs and Miles was pretty happy in it.

hello everyone!

The Museum… It is set over 4 floors, we foolishly started at the top. When we wanted to go down to the next level we had a very long wait for the lift. So long that we just carried the stroller down the stairs. We visited on the 2nd week it was opened so I’m hoping it has been ironed out now.

There is a super children’s area on the 2nd floor. There is a soft area just for babies, and one for older children. Lots of tables and chairs with colouring activities. Miles really enjoyed standing up infront of the full length mirror near the fancy dress costumes.

would I go back again? Yes I would! Not for the food, but it was a good free day out. I think next time we go we’ll give the cafe a miss. You could always take a picnic if it’s a nice day and sit out on the green near Urbis.

Museum of Science and Industry

It can be so hit and miss when eating out with babies we always take along a packed lunch, just in case. I really wish I hadn’t when we went to MoSI http://www.mosi.org.uk/ for the mini maker faire. The food was awesome!

Food… The childrens meals were good value at £3.49 for 5 items. Little sandwiches, cheese, fruit and veg sticks and crisps.

But what we really liked is that all of the food would have been OK for Miles. I had a lancashire cheese and tomato tart with new potatoes and summer vegetables. I was  impressived with the vegetables as they were cooked really well. There is no excuse for a soggy green bean! Mark had a pie (he couldn’t resist). He had a little bit of both and loved it. There were pizzas ready to order, and make your own salads that I know Miles would have really loved.

The highchairs… I am a massive lover of the antilop. Ridiculous value for money, easy to clean and Miles sits in it really nicely. The chairs at MoSI were strangely huge, and Miles is a pretty big boy anyway. He could barely get his arms over the top of he tray! There were another styles knocking about, but they were all taken.

The museum… We went for the mini-maker faire and it was a geeks paradise. Miles went in the sling and loved being at head height with everyone. He especially enjoyed the electronic instruments and laser harp.

The experiment gallery in the main building was a big hit. He enjoyed crawling in the play area and was fascinated with a wooden toy that spun round. All the hands on displays were are hand height for little ones, and older children were having a wail of a time running round in all the space.

staring at strangers! Nosey!

quick cuddle in the sling.

Would I go back? Hell yes! I would go our of my way just to eat there I think. Can’t wait to go back.
